- The Miyawaki Method is a technique of growing dense.
Soil Preparation:
The soil is first tested and improved with organic materials (like compost, coco peat, rice husk, etc.).
The goal is to make the soil loose, nutrient-rich, and moisture-retaining.
Selection of Native Species:
Only native species (plants that naturally belong to that region) are used.
Generally, 30–40 different native species are mixed together for biodiversity.
Dense Plantation:
Trees are planted very close together (3–5 saplings per square meter).
This creates competition for sunlight, which makes the trees grow faster and stronger.
Mulching & Maintenance:
The ground is covered with mulch (like dry leaves or straw) to retain moisture.
Watering and occasional weeding are done for the first 2–3 years only.
Self-Sustaining Growth:
After 2–3 years, the forest becomes self-sufficient, requiring no maintenance.
It grows 10 times faster, is 30 times denser, and absorbs more CO₂ than a conventional plantation.
